filming equipment

To shoot our film we are using a small amount of equipment, consisting of:

Camera:

Tripod:

we are using a small amount of equipment due to the fact we dont need a Dolly as we arnt doing any chase scenes or follows, also most of our shots are going to be stationary or POV

Issues
There wasn't any major issues with the equipment, it catered to all our needs and did the job well, the only issue that can be raised is the temperature control with the camera, the camera didn't work to its max ability from the beginning of the shoot which worried us slightly as a group when we tryed to review the footage on the spot we ended up looking at a stripped up screen, the panic on our faces was a funny sight tho.

however once the camera got warmed up from shooting the picture quality returned to standard quality.

one other very minor issue was with the tripod, one of the rubber stoppers that was on the end of the leg kept coming off which was an annoyance as it got the horizon balance out by having it lean too far left.

we solved the issur with the tripods spirit leve which was attached to it, the tripod camera holster has a variety of level manipulating devices which combated the tripods crippled leg.

Target audiance

Target Audience:
The target audience for our thriller opening are for older teenagers and adults around 16-26 mainly of a male gender due to the sub genre we chose, but females who like gore or "jump out of the seat" thriller's would enjoy it to.

The certificate would have to be a 15 or 12 at the lowest, depending on other scenes which might happen later on in the film.
Our opening scene would be unsuitable for children under 12, as our ideas can be quite scary and could be quite disturbing for children. For example finding out what this beast is, and what its capable of.

Location ideas

We found out that around Long Road sixth form, there is a serious lack of locations. So we will probably have to film elsewhere. At first we were trying to compromise our idea ideas for the locations we found, but the compromising was too much, so we'll have to record somewhere else.
Here are some locations that we found today:

Influences

BEHIND ENEMY LINES:

this film played a key roll in showing us what army style films looked like, having seen this, it showed us what we didnt want a thriller to look like but we took some key aspects from this film:
- Uniform
- Attitude
- Danger aspects
- Rate of gunfire.

CLOVERFIELD:

Cloverfield also played a larg
e part towards influencing us, we liked the PoV shots used in this film with the shaky footage as the person would see, this also shows what the person who is in the action see's which can really enhance the viewers perception of danger and action.

Taken:
This film features many fast scenes that are close to what we feel we want our thriller to look like. Most is filmed in France, an urban/industrial Environment. This is exactly what we were looking for, for our initial storyboard.

Final Idea

since having realised that the our original idea was too similar to "the Blair witch Project" we decided to totally re-think and choose one of our other ideas, after a Very long discussion we decided to use IDEA 4 with this idea it gives us a larger amount of room to play with due to the slightly Rural + urban style, also the sorts of shots Jace has listed in the storyboard, it means we can work with a large amount of footage and we could make a really good final piece.

Story line:
At the beginning we have an establishing shot of a group of soldiers running through an area with packedges [Outdoor in a Urban area], and one of them drops one of the capsules they were ment to be 'transporting'.
The soldier who dropped his capsule goes to pick up the capsule but the other one dose not realises this and runs off ahead.
While picking up the capsule the soldier gets attacked by a 'mutant' type creater monster.
We'll have a POV [Point Of View] shot of the creature targeting the soldier so that we can build up the suspense of the situation.
The creature itself doesn't matter so much as to how it attacks, we are not showing the monster at all as it would close off the possibilities of what the monster is.
The other one is going to be attacked but not in the same way but with the view of their faces reaction. All in the POV of the creature
The final scene is the capsule rolling away being illuminated by the gun fire.

mise-en-scene

Location Ideas / influences

both these photo's helped Jace convince me of the possibilities of the Third idea, proposed by Jace, These photo's are spectacular but trying to find something similar in the local area is going to pose quite a test.

Costume

Jace had surgested that the Costume was Styled in the sence of Amy Members / soldiers this wouldent pose too much of a problem due to some of us knowing people in Caddets or who own gear so we could borrow some.

Monster:

In our mise-en-scene we were trying to accomplish a sense of post apocalyptic world state in which the world is near destruction

We decided on quite a simple but also standout ish text for the actual titles which will not clash with the actual title or footage, the fonts called TelegraphM from www.Dafont.com

Titles Order Timeline:

DAYBREAK

These are our Thriller opening Sequence Titles , the font + size + style needs to be changed into something that would suit our genre + style of film.

Having played around on Photoshop for a while and Searched around on www.Dafonts.com we found a few Fonts that we could possibly use, the group came together and had a discussion of which font would work best with the Pro's and Con's of each font, together we decided that the Third font would work best (with arrow pointing to it) due to the straight edges of this font and the Rips through it, it would work better compared to the others as the others look like they are bleeding or are disintegrating . this font is called insomnia

having spent a little while looking at the font it still didn't seem quite there, so further time spent in photoshop, dodging and burning and adding colour made the title seem more aggressive.

Mood board

Today the group decided to compile a Mood board full of the images that we would like to see in our thriller opening, the mood board made us realize that most of the images surgest danger + angst, this is key to a thriller, there are images like the Tents + driving which are much softer in nature, this suggest some of the story line.
